Our Mission
When I was 15, my dad was diagnosed with leukemia and I had to accompany him to St. Louis where he received treatment from Wash U Medical School Physicians at Barnes Jewish Hospital. I spent a lot of time at the hospital with him. While there, we met families from diverse backgrounds, but one family stood out due to their struggle to pay for parking fees at the hospital. This seemingly minor inconvenience led to several issues that detracted from the most important goal of getting their loved one healthy. It also made me aware of the numerous expenses associated with leukemia care that are often overlooked and not covered by medical insurance, such as meals, fuel, hotels, laundry, and more.
Extended hospital stays can significantly increase the financial burden on families already facing an immensely challenging time. Therefore, at the Cameron Brackett Foundation, we aim to help families with these additional expenses and hope to make life just a little easier for them. Although we may not be able to pay their medical bills, we can provide support by covering some of the extra costs associated with their treatment.
